Local Rule in El Salvador.

El Salvador has some of the friendliest local surfers I have met so far on my travels and they are easily among the best local surfers I have witnessed in the Latin Americas. A friendly "hola", smile and respect will go a long way in the surf in El Salvador and who knows you might soon not only be sharing waves but also a cerveza or ten with the locals in El Tunco. It has always irritated me how much of the mainstream surfing media will run coverage of traveling pros but will feature little to no content of the local riders....I have no intention of doing that so here is my tribute to the local crew of legends in El Salvador. Gracis amigos, enjoy and until next time my friends.

El Salvadorian National Champ  Porfirio Miranda with arms wide open.

An unknown local goes off the top.

Katherine Diaz the El Salvadorain Women's National Champion has La Bocana pretty well dialed.

Katy killing it.

Hurley pro junior rider Stevie Pittman snags a cheeky inside runner.

Juan Ramos charging a Punta Roca bomb. When I look back at this photo I am not really sure what I was thinking to rock off and shoot water that day.

I hate tacos said no Juan ever.

Bamba Diaz perhaps the friendliest guy in Tunco, this guy just also happens to rip.

The bigger they are the harder they fall. Did I say this guy rips? Sorry Bamba.

Ok, so Bamba would kill me if I didn't run a decent shot of him surfing. Captured moments before getting pitted.

Porfirio knows what's up.

Porfirio Miranda rules his local break La Bocana.

Number one local Alexander Morales Vaquero getting the job done.

Vaquero hammer time.

Not exactly a local but meh.

Did you say photos? Jorge Carranza has got you covered.

El Salvador even has a solid local bodyboard contingent.

Two's company.

Porfirio shreds.

Katy ponders, as her drive and determination develops this girl could really go places.

SUP Salvador.

El Tunco views.

Adios El Tunco, it was fun.
